LighterLife Management: Chocolate orange potsIf you’re managing your weight, you shouldn’t have to deny yourself anything. It’s all about striking a balance and making sensible choices around food.

So, if you like sweet stuff, then there’s no reason why you can’t have dessert every now and then.

These low-calorie chocolate orange pots are delicious and with only 149kcal per serving, you won’t feel guilty afterwards.

Serves 2

Ingredients
30g (1oz) bitter plain chocolate (max. 70% cocoa solids)
1 tsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp hot water
1 medium egg
2 tsp caster sugar
1 tsp butter
grated zest and juice of ½ orange
2 tsp 0% fat natural Greek yoghurt
grated orange zest, to decorate

Break the chocolate into pieces, and place in a basin over a saucepan of water simmering on a medium heat. Blend the cocoa powder and hot water, and add to the basin. When the chocolate starts to melt, stir until smooth and thick, then remove from the heat.

Separate the egg into 2 clean, dry bowls. Beat the egg yolk and stir into the melted chocolate. Put the pan back over a low heat and stir the chocolate mixture until it thickens. Add the caster sugar, butter, orange zest and juice, and  remove from the heat.

Whisk the egg white until stiff. Using a metal spoon, fold it gently into the chocolate mixture in a figure-of-eight movement. Divide between 2 ramekin dishes or pots, and chill in the fridge until set firm.

Top each pot with a swirl of yoghurt sprinkled with orange zest, and serve immediately.

Tip
Instead of orange juice and zest, add 2 teaspoons of strong espresso coffee to make delicious chocolate mocha pots
