Why is it so difficult to say ‘no’?

October 25, 2015 - Psychology

LighterLifeWe’ve all said ‘yes’ when what we really wanted to say was ‘no’. In this LighterLife group we look at why we find it so hard to say no and together we explore situations when we might have struggled to say ‘no’.

Saying ‘yes’ when you mean ‘no’ often gives mixed messages that are stressful for everyone involved. To help with this we look at how the situations could have been managed better.

We use the ‘GAP’ plan to help you decide whether you want to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’, and how to become more comfortable when you choose to say ‘no’.

Once you’ve learned to say ‘no’ in a straightforward way, you’ll be pleasently surprised by the reactions you get and how you both feel.
