Many of us might admit that time in the office is often spent snacking, thinking about meals and doing very little exercise. At LighterLife, we’ve thought up five top tips to help you Lighten Up at work.
1. Pack Your Own Lunch:
This will help you control your portion sizes at meal times and prevent you from eating sweet or salty snacks during the day. It will also mean you know exactly what you’ve eaten; allowing you to keep a much better track of your daily intake. Not only that but it will help you save some hard earned cash as well: a great way to save and lose those pounds!
2. Keep Water at Your Desk:
In order to prevent mistaking thirst for hunger, drink water regularly throughout your working day. This way, when you think you are hungry you can simply have a glass of water instead!
3. Don’t carry Loose Change:
Without heavy pockets to dip into you cannot meaninglessly splash out on vending machines or cafeteria meals. This will stop you buying crisps, sweets and sugary drinks (the kind of food available in work vending machines).
4. Keep yourself Busy:
People snack when they are bored, it’s unfortunate but it’s true. If you manage to keep yourself busy then you will have less time on your hands to snack. Always make sure that you have tasks to do to keep your mind off those sweet treats.
5. Move more:
You’ve probably heard it time and time again, but it really does make a difference. It is important that you keep active even at work. Take the stairs instead of the lift, walk to a colleagues desk instead of emailing them, park further away from your company building, get off the train a stop earlier. Also, why not use your lunch break to take a stroll outside, rather then just sitting at your desk? These small bits of exercise may not seem like a lot, but keeping your body active, even in the most minor of ways, is very important for your health and your LighterLife!
