Head of Nutrition and Research Dr Kelly Johnston shares the latest research studies that prove that the LighterLife approach works…
Each year, LighterLife attends numerous obesity conferences and seminars to present our latest research findings. Research is a very important part of what we do at LighterLife because we want to ensure we have the science and credentials behind us to back up the fact that we’re the UK’s number one very-low-calorie diet (VLCD) and weight-management plan.
In 2014 LighterLife attended several major events such as the International Congress on Obesity (ICO), the European Congress on Obesity (ECO) and the Association for the Study of Obesity (ASO). We presented a number of research studies.
At ECO we presented data from a study which demonstrated that increased attendance at LighterLife management groups is associated with improved weight maintenance success, 1 year after completing a VLCD weight loss programme, thus providing further evidence that that the group work on LighterLife is essential for managing your weight long term.
We also presented data showing obese women with hypothyroidism (an under-active thyroid) achieve the same weight loss as those without when following a very low calorie diet (VLCD). Which will be fantastic news to anyone suffering from this condition, the reassurance that on our LighterLife Total plan we can help people with hypothyroidism and wanting to lose weight (weight gain being a common symptom), just as safely and effectively as people who aren’t battling with this condition.
These studies highlight LighterLife as being reputable providers of evidence-based, weight loss and weight-management programmes. To find out more about our plans and what they involve visit our website.
